ABSTRACT

The Coronavirus pandemic challenged most industries in ways unimaginable, forcing people to consider a variety of operational models which were previously unthinkable. UEP also adapted a Work-From-Home (WFH) model for its office-based staff to ensure operational continuity. A few months into the Pandemic, discussions at UEP were initiated to determine how the organization intends to manage office resumption once the Pandemic eases. A holistic strategy was devised to seek inputs of stake holders, research global and local trends to arrive at an informed decision. The findings indicated that while globally there were discussions around New Normal the local companies were generally not inclined in changing the way they work. UEP also sought feedback on the work-from-home setup from its employees via pulse survey and focus groups. Based on the results and multiple deliberations it was decided to move towards a hybrid model as the New Normal for UEP. A key focus area throughout the process was the impact on employees and the subsequent impact on Talent Management at UEP. This paper will discuss the series of events which led to the formalization of the "New Normal for UEP" and how it has impacted UEP's Talent Management. The paper will also briefly touch upon the post implementation feedback and lessons learnt from focus groups and highlight areas of improvement to fine tune the working model to what suits UEP best. ABSTRACT

For several years Food Delivery Business has been growing strongly both in Italy and internationally, but during the 2020 global COVID-19 epidemic, there was an even stronger increase because the benefits of online food delivery were evident, as it facilitated consumer access to prepared meals and allowed restaurant workers and suppliers to continue to operate. This research work focuses on a very particular type of food delivery, namely the one that deals only with deliveries of healthy food and superfoods. Large companies and Healthy Food Delivery (HFD) startups have different operational models and ways for service provision than traditional Restaurant Delivery systems. These are complex and non-linear mechanisms and for this reason they have proved to be interesting to analyze. The authors of this paper use a qualitative approach through multiple case studies to obtain a detailed description. A framework has been established to observe the different entrepreneurial initiatives from different perspectives. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a massive and sudden rethink of how tall office buildings, and cities as a whole, should operate. With national and local government responses varying widely across the globe, and much about the virus still unknown, it is impossible to generate a single safe operational model for the immediate near term. However, the aggregate knowledge of the building industry can be activated by creating an indicative, general assessment of how today’s tall buildings and their cities could be modified. This report collates the advice of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s Expert Peer Review Committee and its database of the global tall building industry, as well as the consultancies and professional organizations in the wider CTBUH orbit, forming a hypothetical model of the potential changes coming to the existing stock of tall office buildings and the cities where they are located, and speculates on the urban implications of extrapolating these changes. © 2020, Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
